UP Warriorz Women secured a 22-run win over Mumbai Indians Women in Match 10 of the Women's Premier League 2026 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on January 17. This was the Warriorz's second win of the edition and their second against the opposition within a couple of days as well.
A 119-run stand between Meg Lanning and Phoebe Litchfield ensured the Warriorz possessed a stable position to finish strong. The half-centurions were dismissed by the 14th over.
They could have ended up with a lot more than 187/8 if not for a mini-collapse towards the end of the innings, as they lost five wickets fell in the last two overs.Mumbai Indians already lost four wickets during the first-half of their chase, scoring only 62 runs in that period. Even Amelia Kerr (49* off 28) and Amanjot Kaur's (41 off 24) efforts were not enough as their innings proved too little too late. Although they lost two wickets fewer than the Warriorz, they were well short of the opposition's total.
Top batting performance of the match — Meg LanningLanning brought up her fifty in 35 deliveries.
Her knock was a mixture of class, maturity and smartness. Lanning looked set to score more but she was dismissed in the 14th over against the run of play.
Although on the losing side, Kerr performed with standout figures of 3/28 in her quota of four overs. She came back splendidly well, conceding only one run in the final over of the Warriorz's innings while picking up three wickets.
Lanning was deservedly granted the Player of the Match award for her match-defining knock.
Although Litchfield struck at a greater rate, it was the skipper's innings which stood out.
MI W will take on Delhi Capitals Women at the Kotambi Stadium on January 20. UPW's next clash will be getting a little more time to cool down. They will play against Gujarat Giants Women on January 22 at the same venue.
