Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Gujarat Giants by 61 runs to qualify for the playoffs of the Women’s Premier League 2026.
Chasing 179 runs to win, the Giants managed 117/8 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Beth Mooney (3) and Sophie Devine (0), the two star batters, were miserable with the bat. Captain Ashleigh Gardner was the only performer for the Giants, amassing 54 runs off 43 balls, including 5 boundaries and 1 six. Anushka Sharma, who recovered from the injury, returned to the playing XI but took 20 balls to score 18 runs, laced with 3 boundaries.
RCB bowlers were once again spot on, with Nadine de Klerk (2 wickets), Sayali Satghare (3 wickets), Shreyanka Patil (1 wicket), Radha Yadav (1 wicket) and Lauren Bell (1 wicket) bowling well.
Earlier, Bengaluru were in trouble, with Grace Harris (1), Georgia Voll (1) and Smriti Mandhana (26) returning to the dressing room on a score of 69. Gautami Naik came to RCB’s rescue, posting 73 runs off 55 balls, with the help of 7 fours and 1 six. She added 69 runs with Richa Ghosh, whose 27 runs came in 20 balls, packed with three sixes.
Radha Yadav (17 off 8) and Radha Yadav (8* off 2) also played key roles in RCB’s total.
For GG, Kashvee Gautam, and Gardner picked up two wickets each, while Renuka Singh and Sophie Devine dismissed one batter each. With five wins from five matches, Royal Challengers Bengaluru becomes the first franchise to make it to the next round.
