Phil Salt replaced Jason Roy after the latter withdrew from the IPL 2024, citing personal reasons. However, it has turned out to be a huge advantage for the group, as the dynamic opener’s batting has dominated the IPL 2024.

But with a T20I series against Pakistan this month, Phil Salt might leave, which would make KKR’s prospects of making it to the final uncertain. It has not been confirmed yet, but reports suggest that BCCI and ECB are working on an agreement that would permit England players to miss the forthcoming series against Pakistan.

Meanwhile, keeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz hasn’t played a game yet this season. At the beginning of this month, he reportedly went back home to be with his ailing mother.

However, he has now officially stated that he would be joining the KKR team again shortly, which is a huge boost. He announced his return on social media.

Gurbaz will automatically replace Phil Salt if he departs for England, and he will partner Sunil Narine in the opening slot. With 429 runs including four fifties, Salt has been in outstanding form.

After joining the KKR in 2023, Gurbaz enjoyed a good season with the bat, amassing 227 runs in 11 games. The loss of Salt would be devastating for KKR, who are eyeing their third IPL title. Reports state that Gurbaz is anticipated to join his KKR teammates the following week.

Gurbaz, who was included in Afghanistan’s side for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, is probably their go-to choice behind the stumps. KKR management will be hoping that Gurbaz starts scoring runs at the earliest.
