Lucknow . Taking a big step towards equal opportunity and social justice in education in Uttar Pradesh, the Basic Education Department has released the timetable of the admission process under 25 percent reservation in private schools for the year 2026-27 under the Right to Education (RTE) Act 2009. Through this scheme, lakhs of children from economically weaker and deprived sections will get the opportunity of quality education in private schools.

As per the departmental instructions issued, this admission process will be completed completely through online portal. Eligible children at Class 1 or pre-primary level will be selected through a lottery system to ensure transparency and equity. The department has directed the District Basic Education Officers and Block Education Officers of all the districts to complete the admission of the selected children within the stipulated time. Apart from this, it will be mandatory for schools to upload the admission status on the portal.

Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh said that the system of 25 percent reservation in primary classes in private schools under RTE provides equal and quality education opportunity to the deprived and economically weaker children of the society. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment towards strengthening social justice and inclusion in education. Our top priority is to ensure the right to education for every eligible child of the state.

Uttar Pradesh Director General of School Education Monica Rani said that the timetable of all the stages has been released to make the RTE admission process transparent and easy. Through online application, verification and lottery system, it will be ensured that eligible children get admission in private schools within the stipulated time. The Education Department will continuously monitor this process.

Application for admission will be made completely online through the RTE portal. Parents will have to upload the required documents. After this, eligible children will be selected through lottery system after verification by District Basic Education Officer and Block Education Officers.

Eligibility

Under this scheme, children belonging to Scheduled Castes, Tribes and socio-educationally backward classes have been kept in the deprived category. These include orphan children, disadvantaged groups, weaker sections, disabled, children of parents suffering from cancer or HIV and children of disability/old age/widow pension recipients.

These are the documents required for application

Aadhaar card, birth certificate, income certificate, residence certificate, caste certificate, ration card and pension or disability certificate of the applicant’s mother or father will be mandatory.

fee reimbursement

No fee will be charged from children admitted in private schools. A fixed amount of money per student will be provided to the schools by the government.

age limit

3 to 4 years in Nursery, L.K.G. In 4 to 5 years, U.K.G. Children of 5 to 6 years of age in Class I and 6 to 7 years of age in Class 1 will get admission. Age will be calculated from April 1, 2026.
