South Africa defeated Afghanistan after coming on top following the two Super Overs. Kagiso Rabada bowled two no-balls in the 20th over of the innings, which played a part in taking the game to a Super Over. However, scores remained tied, pushing the game into the second Super Over. Tristan Stubbs and David Miller added 23 runs, which proved too much for Afghanistan in the end.
Although Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz hit Keshav Maharaj for three consecutive sixes, the spinner managed to dismiss the batter on the last delivery.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Ryan Rickelton opined on the contest.
“Cricket sucks. It was a cracking game. I can’t describe it. It is good we got over the line,” Rickelton said.
He also backed Rabada, saying the pacer would be given space before the team gets around him.
“We will give him some time, but we will support him. We will have drinks with him later. He is always going to be there,” he added.

With their win against Afghanistan, South Africa are almost through to the Super 8 stage of the tournament. Barring any upset, New Zealand and South Africa will make it to the next round of the T20 World Cup 2026 from Group D.
