WI W vs SL W: Even though the Men's T20 World Cup 2026 matches are being played in Sri Lanka. But these days its women's cricket team is on a tour of West Indies, where it has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series. During the second match of the ODI series between the women's teams of West Indies and Sri Lanka, something happened on the field, after which questions were raised on the decision given by the umpire.
Actually, umpire Jacqueline Williams had dismissed West Indies batsman Deandra Dottin for hitting the ball with the bat. It is not wrong for a batsman to do this. But, the way Deandra Dottin hit the ball, the umpire considered it obstructing the field.
The incident of Diandra Dottin being given obstructing the field in the second ODI against Sri Lanka women's team happened in the 30th over of West Indies' innings.
Diandra tried to play the last ball of this over from Sri Lankan bowler Chamari Atapattu but she missed and the ball hit the wicketkeeper's pad and came back towards her, which she then bounced upwards with her bat and caught it in her hand and gave it to the Sri Lankan wicketkeeper. The field umpire and third umpire considered Diandra's action as obstructing the field and gave her out. Questions were raised on the umpire's decision whether the decision of giving Diandra Obstructing the Field was right or wrong?

In the reactions that appeared on social media, most of the people justified the umpire's decision. He felt it was right under the rules of cricket to give Diandra the charge of obstructing the field.
as per rule when the ball given wide its an dead ball but when dottin hit the ball with the bat then we can clunt it unlike the keeper is trying to catch the ball in a closing distance. So its a pair call

If the keeper had caught the ball, would it have been out?
