India Women will take on Australia Women in the first of three ODIs on Tuesday, with the opener set to take place at the Brisbane Cricket Ground in Brisbane and the remaining two at the Ninja Stadium in Hobart.

The Women in Blue head into the 50-over fixtures with a 2-1 lead (4-2 in points) in the multi-format series after winning the T20I series, their first against the Aussies since 2016.

This will be the first ODI the two sides feature in since the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, and their first meeting after the WC semifinal, which saw eventual champion India beat the title holder Australia by five wickets.

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side completed the highest successful chase in a World Cup knockout match, across men’s and women’s events, when it overhauled 339 against Australia to book a place in the final.

The total was achieved on the back of an unbeaten 127 from Jemimah Rodrigues and a blistering 89 from captain Harmanpreet, with vital contributions from Richa Ghosh, Deepti Sharma and Amanjot Kaur.

It was also the highest chase in the history of Women’s ODIs, eclipsing the 330 that Australia successfully pursued against India earlier in the group-stage match of the tournament.

With the retiring Alyssa Healy back in the camp, playing her final four fixtures, India will be well aware of Australia’s threat at home, and of a team looking for ‘revenge’.
