England's Tom Hartley is hoping that the time that he will get to spend with Nathan Lyon will be a game-changer for him as both men are set to linkup at Lanchashire during the county championship this year.

Lyon has established himself as one of the world's best spinners at the moment and played a big role in Australia's Test win over New Zealand in Wellington. The spinner picked up a 10-wicket haul during the match as the Aussies continued their fine run over their Trans-Tasman rivals in the longest format of the game.

Speaking to the BBC, Hartley said that Lyon is someone he wants to try and replicate and also expressed his admiration at how the off-spinner operates on flat decks in Australia.

"He's someone I want to try to replicate. To be an international cricketer you have to able to perform in different conditions and Nathan is a guy that can really help me.

I hope he's going to be fantastic for me and be a real game-changer. The type of bowler he is something I'm trying to work on.

The way he operates in Australia on pretty flat wickets, there are times when English wickets are pretty similar. He's going to be great to learn off," said Hartley.
