T20 World Cup 2026: India displayed explosive batting in the semi-finals against England. After winning the toss, England put Team India to bat first and as Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav had said that he wanted to bat first. A glimpse of his intention was visible in the play of each of his batsmen.
Indian batsmen together did not score runs in the semi-final being played at Wankhede ground in Mumbai but instead rained runs. Batting first, India scored 253 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs.The 253 runs scored in India's innings is the highest score made by any team in the knockout of the T20 World Cup. In this matter, India has broken the world record made by West Indies. West Indies scored 205 runs after losing 4 wickets in the knock-out match played against Australia in the 2012 T20 World Cup.
The Indian team created another world record by scoring 253 runs in the semi-final against England.
They have now become the only team to score 250 plus twice in the T20 World Cup.A total of 19 sixes were hit in the Indian innings. This is the first time in an inning of the T20 World Cup that India has hit 19 sixes. In this, the contribution of three batsmen from India was maximum, in which apart from Sanju Samson, Shivam Dubey and Tilak Verma are named.
Sanju Samson scored 89 runs in 42 balls at a strike rate of 211.90, hitting 7 sixes alone in the semi-final against England.
Shivam Dubey scored 43 runs in 25 balls at a strike rate of 172 with 4 sixes. Whereas Tilak Verma scored 21 runs in 7 balls with 3 sixes at a strike rate of 300.
Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya hit 2 sixes each. Ishan Kishan scored 39 runs in 18 balls while Hardik Pandya scored 27 runs in 12 balls.
