The new season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is going to be different from before in many ways. This time BCCI has decided to implement many new rules for players and teams. IPL management will hold a meeting of captains in Mumbai on Wednesday. The meeting is being held three days before the start of the 19th season of the tournament. Several issues including innings timer, ball replacement, two bouncer rule, bat inspection, use of saliva and retired-out provision will be discussed in the meeting.

According to a Cricbuzz report, the BCCI informed the teams on Tuesday that match referee and umpire panel heads Javagal Srinath and Nitin Menon will address the captains.

This meeting is scheduled for Wednesday from 4:30 to 6 pm.

Special clarification will be given regarding the ball replacement rule in the meeting. If a ball is lost, becomes unusable or becomes unplayable due to normal wear during a match, the umpire will replace it with another ball of the same level of wear. The batsman and fielding captain will be informed about this.

In evening matches, the team bowling in the second innings will have the right to change the ball once after the 10th over.

The captain can make this request at the end of the over. This rule will apply only once in the second innings, regardless of dew conditions. The umpire can change the ball at any time during the match as per his wish.

If the umpire changes the ball before the 10th over, the fielding captain will still have the right to change the ball after the 10th over and the umpire will have to allow it. If the captain requests a change of ball after the 11th over and the umpire agrees, then after five or six overs the captain can again request a change of ball.

In this situation, permission to change the ball will depend on the discretion of the umpire.
