Latest News :- India has taken Iran's Sabakar port on lease for 10 years.

An agreement in this regard was signed between the two countries yesterday. Under China's 'One Road, One Zone' initiative, the Chinese government is managing a port in Gwadar city of Pakistan. Through this, China is increasing sea freight transport with Gulf countries, Central Asian countries and European countries.

72 km from Gwadar port to compete with China. India has taken on lease the Sabagar port in remote Iran. In this regard, in 2003, the then Prime Minister of India Vajpayee and the then President of Iran Khatami signed an MoU. The Sabakar Port Agreement between the two countries was finalized in 2016. Since December 24, 2018, India has been managing the Sagit Mohammed Beheshti port in Sabah on a lease basis. This lease was extended once a year.

At present, India has leased the Sakhid Mohammad Beheshti port in Chabgar, Iran on a long-term basis for 10 years.

In this regard, an agreement was signed between the two countries in the presence of Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in a program organized in the capital Tehran yesterday.

30% cost reduction: Central government sources said: Goods can be sent by road from India to Central Asian countries via Pakistan. But due to Pakistan's conflict policy, goods are being sent to Central Asian countries, Russia and European countries through Chabakar port of Iran. Natural gas and crude oil are imported from those countries.
