Delhi: In the fourth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by 3 wickets in a thrilling match. Batting first, Gujarat scored 162 runs in 20 overs, which Punjab achieved in 19.1 overs.
In the presentation after the match, captain Shubman Gill said that the team’s bowling tried well, but the batsmen did not keep pace with the pitch in the last overs.
Gill admitted that if the team could have added 10-15 more runs then victory could have been in their hands. He said, “Chandigarh’s pitch was not that high-scoring, but it was also not enough to defend 162 runs. If we had scored 175 runs, the result of the match could have changed.”Gill said that it was difficult to score runs in the first innings due to the ball being old. In the second innings, the pitch became fast due to rain, which made it easier for the opposition batsmen to play shots.
Gill said, “The rain made the situation a little easier, but we still maintained the pressure.”Shubman Gill also praised the new bowler Ashok Sharma and said that he is bowling brilliantly in the initial phase. He said, “As his experience increases, Ashok will become an important player for us. The improvement in his performance will benefit us in the future.”
Gill encouraged the team and said, “Well done boys. The match was not in our favor, but the performance was fine.
Just keep improving and give your best.”
