Sameer Rizvi, Stubbs Star As DC Chase Down Target to Beat LSG by Six Wickets

A solid partnership from Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs has secured a 6-wicket victory for Delhi Capitals against Lucknow Super Giants at Lucknow.

By this win, they secured a 3rd spot in the IPL 2026 points table. After being invited to bat first, LSG opened their innings with Mitchell Marsh and Rishabh Pant opening the innings, while Mukesh Kumar opened the bowling attack.

After Pant’s unlucky dismissal for 7, Aiden Markram got dismissed for 11 runs by Axar Patel in the last over of the powerplay.

By the end of 6 overs, Lucknow Super Giants scored 48 runs with Mitchell Marsh and Ayush Badoni at the crease.

T Natrajan, who came to bowl in the 7th over, dismissed Ayush Badoni for a duck, and Pooran’s cheap dismissal for 8 runs by Lungi Ngidi. Lucknow Super Giants lost four wickets for 64 runs.

Mitchell Marsh, who tried to make an impact, was sent back to the dugout by Kuldeep Yadav for 35 runs. Abdul Samad made a decent knock as they tried to stabilise the innings.

With the dismissal of Mukul Choudhary and Abdul Samad for 15 and 36 runs, Lucknow Super Giants were down to the last three wickets.

On the other end, Mohammed Shami, Anrich Nortje and Mohsin Khan went on to lose wickets at intervals as Lucknow Super Giants got bundled out for 141 runs.

Lungi Ngidi and T Natrajan bagged three wickets while Kuldeep Yadav completed his part with two wickets.

Delhi Capitals will need to chase 142 runs in the clash to claim victory in their opener match of the IPL 2026 campaign.

Chasing 142 runs, KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka opened the innings while Mohammed Shami opened the bowling attack.

The first wicket came in the first ball of the innings, where Shami bagged the wicket of KL Rahul.

Nitish Rana, who came to bat, added 15 runs off 17 deliveries before being dismissed by Mohsin Khan. With Prince Yadav bagging back-to-back wickets of Pathum Nissanka and Axar Patel in the 5th over, Delhi Capitals were in trouble, losing four wickets for 26 runs.

By the end of the power play, DC scored only 33 runs. However, Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs built the innings slowly, where Sameer Rizvi smashed his fifty.

The duo went on to complete the chase in the 18th over and won the game by six wickets. Sameer Rizvi remained unbeaten with 70* while Stubbs contributed 39* runs by the end of the chase.

Delhi Capitals will play their next game against Mumbai Indians on April 04 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
