Abhishek Sharma fined: Abhishek Sharma, who first had an average performance in the T20 World Cup 2026 and then failed in the very first match of IPL 2026, finally returned to his form. Sunrisers Hyderabad's star opener played an excellent innings against Kolkata Knight Riders and gave a fast start to the team. Abhishek's innings contributed significantly to Sunrisers' victory. But despite this contribution, SRH's star opener himself suffered a loss because after the match BCCI announced to cut his salary. Abhishek was found guilty of violating the 'Code of Conduct' and fined, due to which his full salary will not be credited to his account.
In the sixth match of IPL 2026 played on Thursday 2 April at Eden Gardens. Abhishek Sharma The more vigorously he batted, the more aggressive was his behavior and this cost him heavily. During the match, he used abusive language on one occasion, which was recorded on the stump mic. From international cricket to IPL, this kind of behavior is not tolerated. Same thing happened with Abhishek and BCCI found him guilty of Article 2.3 of IPL Code of Conduct and deducted 25% from Abhishek's salary.
Now the question is, how much salary does Abhishek Sharma get for a match in IPL? How much money will be deducted from this salary and how much will come into the account? According to BCCI rules, every player included in the playing-11 for every match of IPL gets Rs 7.5 lakh. This applies equally to all teams in the league and is separate from the players' auction salaries. That means Abhishek Sharma was also to get Rs 7.5 lakh for the match against KKR.
But BCCI announced to deduct 25% of this match fee, due to which Rs 1,87,500 was deducted from Abhishek's salary for this match and only Rs 5,62,500 will come to his account. Not only was Abhishek's salary deducted, but 1 demerit point was also added to his account after being found guilty of a level-1 crime. If there are 4 demerit points then the player is banned for at least 1 match.
Talking about the match, Abhishek Sharma gave an explosive start to the team and scored 48 runs in just 21 balls. During this he hit 4 sixes and 4 fours. However, his innings ended controversially when Varun Chakraborty took a spectacular catch. However, it seemed that the ball had hit the ground but the third umpire considered it a fair catch. Abhishek had also expressed his unhappiness over this decision at that time.
