Mumbai Indians lock horns with Delhi Capitals in match No. 8 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Saturday, April 4. Both teams are coming into this contest, which will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, on the back of wins.
The five-time champions, led by Hardik Pandya, started their campaign with a six-wicket win against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium. Mumbai chased down a 221-run target on the back of fifties from Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma.
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals won a low-scoring clash against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium earlier this week. The Axar Patel-led side chased down a 142-run target after being reduced to 26/4 as Sameer Rizvi starred with an unbeaten half-century.

Rohit Sharma returned to competitive cricket after a significant break with a stylish knock, scoring 78 off just 38 balls. He was well-supported by fellow opener Ryan Rickelton, who made 78 off 38 balls. Tilak Varma walked out to bat at No. 4 after Suryakumar Yadav came in as the Impact Player. The southpaw scored 20 off 14 balls with the help of four boundaries.
Middle Order: Hardik Pandya (C), Naman Dhir, Sherfane RutherfordHardik Pandya looked in fine touch in the last game as he remained unbeaten on 18 off 11 deliveries. Naman Dhir also faced two balls and hit one boundary. These two right-handers can cause serious damage in the back end of the innings. Sherfane Rutherfordis likely to provide additional firepower in the lower order, complementing Dhir in closing games strongly.
Bowler: Shardul Thakur, Mayank Markande, AM Ghazanafar, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult

Shardul Thakur was the Player of the Match in the last game against Kolkata. He bagged a three-for in his four overs. His role in the middle overs and at the death will be crucial. Mayank Markande bowled just one over on his comeback to the Mumbai Indians and gave away 16 runs. AM Ghazanfar also struggled on his debut as he leaked 51 runs in his four-over spell.
Jasprit Bumrah didn't take a wicket in the last game, but his exemplary spell at the back end of the innings helped Mumbai restrict Kolkata to a total which was within reach on a flat deck. Trent Boult also had an abysmal outing with the ball. He is known for his ability to pick up wickets with the new ball, but he couldn't add to his 143 IPL wickets. In four overs, he gave away 38 runs.
