Sameer Rizvi Master Class Powers Delhi Capitals 6-wicket Win Against Mumbai Indians

A solid knock from Sameer Rizvi has set up Delhi Capitals’ stunning 6-wicket victory against Mumbai Indians on April 04 at Delhi.

He smashed 90 runs off 51 deliveries after a little collapse in Delhi’s innings. With this win, Delhi Capitals move to the top spot in the IPL 2026 points table.

After being invited to bat first, Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma opened the innings while Mukesh Kumar opened the bowling attack.

Mukesh Kumar bagged the wickets of Ryan Rickelton and Tilak Varma for 9 and 0 respectively and with Rohit Sharma-Suryakumar Yadav at crease, Mumbai Indians scored 41 runs in the powerplay.

Axar Patel bagged with wicket of Rohit Sharma for 35 runs in the 3rd ball of the 10th over. He was sent out on a slow wide off delivery which he shot toward Ntish Rana at cover.

With Vipraj Nigam picking the wicket of Sherfane Rutherford for 5 runs, Naman Dhir and Suryakumar Yadav forged a little partnership.

Suryakumar Yadav who smashed his fifty got dismissed for 51 runs on for LBW on a delivery from Lungi Ngidi.

Naman Dhir was sent back to dug out for 28 runs and with Mitchell Santner and Corbin Bosch at crease, Mumbai Indians scored 162 runs in their 20 over innings.

Mukesh Kumar bagged two wickets while Lungi Ngidi, Axar Patel, Vipraj Nigam and T Natrajan bagged one wicket each.

Chasing 163 run target, K Rahul and Pathum Nissanka opened the innings while Deepak Chahar opened the bowling attack.

Deepak Chahar picked the wicket of KL Rahul for 1 runs, and Nitish Rana who came to bat got dismissed for duck on a runout.

With Pathum Nissanka and Sameer Rizvi at crease, Delhi Capitals scored 42 runs in the powerplay.

Nissanka made a good knock scoring 44 runs off 30 deliveries, before being dismissed by Mitchell Santner in the 10th over. After his dismissal Sameer Rizvi made a stunning knock completing his fifty.

He went on to continue his slaughter while David Miller played a supportive innings. Sameer Rizvi went on to score 90 runs before being dismissed by Corbin Bosch.

With David Miller and Tristan Stubbs on crease, Delhi Capitals completed the chase in 19th over.

Only Deepak Chahar, Mitchell Santner and Corbin Bosch picked one wickets each for Mumbai Indians.
