Delhi: Gujarat Titans (GT) fast bowler Ashok Sharma has set a new record in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. While playing against Rajasthan Royals (RR), he bowled the ball at a speed of 154.2 kilometers per hour, which became the fastest ball of this season. With this performance, Ashok Sharma has become the third fastest Indian bowler in IPL history. Only Umran Malik (157 km/hr) and Mayank Yadav (156.7 km/hr) are ahead of him.
23 year old Ashok Sharma is a player from Rajasthan and he started his cricket career with domestic cricket. He stepped in as a net bowler for the Rajasthan team and made his first-class debut in the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy.
Ashok Sharma started playing in the IPL in 2022 for Kolkata Knight Riders, where he was bought for Rs 55 lakh. After this, in 2025, Rajasthan Royals included him in their team for Rs 30 lakh. During his time in IPL, he took many important wickets and played a decisive role for the team in many matches.
Ashok Sharma is a right arm fast bowler. An excellent mix of pace and swing can be seen in his bowling, which makes him dangerous for the opposing batsmen. His fast ball has attracted the attention of both spectators and experts and he is being considered as a shining star of Indian cricket in the future.
