One mistake becomes very costly in IPL. One over changes the match and sometimes after some silence there is a tsunami. The first innings of the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026 was similar, in which no boundaries were hit in the first 3 overs but when the fourth over started, it became difficult to stop. In particular, Bengaluru's explosive finisher Tim David ended the inning explosively by hitting sixes and became the biggest score against Chennai in IPL history.

Bengaluru, playing as champion this season, had registered an emphatic victory in the very first match. About a week later, Rajat Patidar's team, which came on the field, again entertained the fans with its explosive batting, while troubling the Chennai bowlers. Every batsman of the team batted brilliantly but the show was stolen by David, who came to bat in the 15th over but his real power started showing from the 17th over, after which no one could stop him.

David rained sixes

Tim David was sent after Devdutt Padikkal was out on the first ball of the 15th over. But like the first match, here too he had to struggle in the beginning. He could not score any runs on his first 3 balls, while he got only 3 runs on the first 6 balls. But he created a stir with the 7th ball. In the 17th over, David gave a glimpse of the coming storm by hitting 3 consecutive sixes against spinner Noor Ahmed.

After this, CSK got a chance in the 18th over but fast bowler Anshul Kamboj made a mistake. David started this over with a four. But Kamboj bowled him out on the fifth ball. As soon as David started returning to the pavilion, the no-ball hooter sounded and he got a lease of life. Then he hit a six on the free hit.

After this, he destroyed Jamie Overton in the 19th over. This entire over was played by Tim David and he scored 30 runs from the over by hitting a total of 4 sixes and one four including 3 consecutive sixers. In this way, from hitting the first six in the 17th over till hitting the last six in the 19th over, Tim David faced all the 16 balls continuously and scored 62 runs including 8 sixes and 2 fours.

Highest score against CSK

The condition of Tim David's attack was such that before hitting the first six, when David was on 3 runs, Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar was on 40 runs. By the end of the 19th over, David had reached 65 runs in 23 balls, while Patidar was still on 40 runs. Tim David took the team to 250 runs by hitting a four on the last ball of the innings. This is the biggest score by any team against Chennai Super Kings in the 17-year history of IPL.

Before this, Bengaluru had a very slow start. The opening pair of Phil Salt and Virat Kohli, known for their aggressive start, had to struggle to get boundaries in the first 3 overs. The reasons for this were some mistiming and some outfield. Kohli (28) provided relief by hitting a six on the second ball of the fourth over i.e. the 20th ball of the innings. After that, Phil Salt (46), Devdutt Padikkal (50) and Captain Patidar (48) also hit a lot of boundaries.
