RCB impress with 43-run win over CSK in IPL 2026, reach No.1 spot in points table

Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated the Chennai Super Kings by 43 runs to reach the No.1 spot in the Indian Premier League 2026. After scoring 250 for 3 in their allotted 20 overs, the defending champions dismissed the five-time champions for 207 in 19.4 overs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in IPL 2026.

Sanju Samson (9) recorded their successive failure in the 19th season, while captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (7) and Ayush Mhatre were also ordinary with the bat.

Sarfaraz Khan looked threatening, amassing 50 runs in 25 balls, with the help of 8 fours and 2 sixes.

Jamie Overton (37 off 16) and Prashant Veer (43 off 29) also played handy knocks, but their efforts were not enough. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3 wickets), Jacob Duffy (2 wickets), Abhinandan Singh (2 wickets) and Krunal Pandya (2 wickets) were the pick of the bowlers for RCB.

Earlier, the host franchise was unstoppable after being invited to bat first by rival captain Gaikwad. Virat Kohli (28 off 18) and Phil Salt (46 off 20) gave momentum to the side, which was taken forward by Devdutt Padikkal, who posted 50 runs in 29 balls, with the help of 5 boundaries and 2 sixes.

The real push came from Tim David and Rajat Patidar, who added 97 runs from the last five overs. Tim David remained unbeaten on 70 runs in 25 balls, laced with 8 sixes and 3 fours. On the other hand, captain Patidar managed 48 not out in 19 deliveries, smashing 6 maximums and 1 four.

Anshul Kamboj, Overton and Shivam Dube got rid of one batter each.
