There is a big threat looming over IPL 2026, will these 2 big matches be cancelled?

The 19th season of the Indian Premier League started with a bang but suddenly in the middle of the season, there seems to be a small break in its pace. Where some powerful and some one-sided competitions were being seen every day. But suddenly a twist of nature changed the situation and the danger of cancellation of 2 matches is looming.

One match has already been cancelled, but the next two matches may also be in a similar situation. The reason for this is the weather.

One match canceled, one shortened

Ever since the IPL 2026 season has started, the weather patterns have been seen changing continuously. Although it had no impact on the first 11 matches, the situation started changing from the 12th match. Due to this, four consecutive matches were in danger. In one match where only 11-11 overs could be played, the other match was cancelled. But after this, the danger in the next two matches is not over.

Actually, the match played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings on Monday 6 April was canceled due to rain. Only 22 balls could be played in this match, after which rain came and the match was cancelled. The very next day, on April 7, Guwahati was also troubled by the weather, due to which the match between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians seemed to be cancelled. However, the match started after about three and a quarter hours (160 minutes), which lasted only 11-11 overs.

These two matches are also in danger

After this, the shadow of rain is looming over the match between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans.

This match is to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, but it has started raining in Delhi since April 7 and rain is expected on April 8 as well, due to which this match may also be affected.

After this, the next match is to be played again in Kolkata on 9th April, in which Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants will face each other. But there is a forecast of rain in Kolkata on the day of this match also. Even on April 7, two days before the match, it rained in Kolkata, due to which the practice session of Knight Riders was cancelled.
