Royal Challengers Bengaluru maintained their strong start to IPL 2026, securing back-to-back wins and reinforcing their credentials as defending champions. After comfortably chasing down a target against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their opener, they produced another dominant display, defeating Chennai Super Kings by 43 runs on Sunday.

Leading from the front, Rajat Patidar guided his side to a formidable 250/3 after losing the toss.

The innings was powered by a sensational unbeaten 70 off just 25 balls from Tim David.

In reply, CSK showed their class but failed to keep up with the required rate, eventually getting dismissed for 207. The loss extended their winless run to three matches in the tournament.

Amid the run-fest, a light-hearted moment from RCB’s innings quickly gained traction online, leaving fans amused. The incident unfolded during a drinks interval, with Rajat Patidar and Devdutt Padikkal in the middle.

During the drinks break, head coach Andy Flower and batting coach Dinesh Karthik came onto the field carrying refreshments for the batters.

In an unexpected turn, one of the umpires picked up Rajat Patidar’s bottle and even took a sip, catching everyone off guard.

Realising what had happened, Rajat Patidar walked up to the umpire, visibly irritated, and asked for his bottle to be handed back. The situation took a lighter turn as Dinesh Karthik shared a few words with the official, while Andy Flower stood nearby.

After the emphatic win over Chennai Super Kings, RCB captain Rajat Patidar praised Tim David for his exceptional finishing skills, calling him among the finest finishers he has witnessed.

“He’s a specialist in that role and, in my view, one of the finest finishers around. I really enjoyed watching him bat. He proved his ability last season as well, and his consistency makes him one of the best finishers I’ve seen,” said Rajat Patidar during the post-match interaction.

He also praised Krunal Pandya for his impactful spell of 2/36 in four overs, which included the key dismissals of a well-set Sarfaraz Khan and Kartik Sharma.

“Whenever I found myself under pressure, I would look for KP.

That’s the level of trust I have in him,” he added.
