With cricket fans and CSK uncertain over the availability of MS Dhoni, the franchise CEO Kasi Viswanathan has confirmed that the wk-batter is set to miss another match in the IPL 2026 season as he continues to recover from a calf injury.
MS Dhoni has been unavailable since the start of the season and will be sitting out of CSK’s upcoming clash against Delhi Capitals on April 11.
Speculations around his return, MS Dhoni has been seen in practice session visuals surfaced online, raising hopes among fans about his comeback.
Speaking to media, CSK CEO Kasi Visawanathan made it clear that there is no fixed timeline for MS Dhoni’s return.
“MS is undergoing rehab and it will take some time. We can’t say how much time,” he said.
MS Dhoni absence has left a significant void in the CSK lineup leaving team struggline to find stability on the field.
The former Indian captain has long been the backbone of the franchise and his presence alone has raised the players mindset in the field.
His injury ruled him out of key fixtures including the clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 05, after which CSK slipper to the bottom of the points table with a net run rate of -2.517.
Chennai Super Kings has suffered three back to back defeat. First, they suffered a eight wicket defeat against Rajasthan Royals and a five wicket loss to Punjab Kings.
A 43-run defeat against RCB has put CSK in tough spot keep them reeling in the bottom of the IPL 2026 points table.
Despite the setbacks, a training session showing MS Dhoni practising in the nets, where he struck couple of towering sixes during a session that quickly went viral on social media.
Meanwhile, young batter Dewald Brevis is also progressing in his recovery and after a side strain ruled him out at the start of the tournament.
Speaking on his return, CSK CEO said, “We are hoping he will be available for the next game, but that will depend on how he progresses. We have a few days before the next game.”
