Gujarat Titans Clinch 1-Run Thriller vs Delhi Capitals After Late Error by David Miller

After closing the victory, David Miller’s blunder cost Delhi Capitals a 1-run defeat in the IPL 2026 game against the Gujarat Titans at Delhi.

Despite a solid knock from KL Rahul of 92 runs and Miller’s late cameo, the Gujarat Titans outplayed the Delhi Capitals in Wednesday’s clash.

Securing their first win, the Gujarat Titans made a significant move in the IPL 2026 points table.

After being invited to bat first, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill opened the innings while Mukesh Kumar opened the bowling attack.

Mukesh Kumar brought the first breakthrough, dismissing Sai Sudharsan for 12 runs. Jos Buttler, who came to bat, went on to carnage mode as the duo scored 68 runs in the power play.

Jos Buttler smashed 52 runs off 27 deliveries before being dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav. His knock included 3 fours and 5 sixes.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar continued to score amass runs where Gujarat Titans captain smashed fifty and scored 70 runs off 45 deliveries before being dismissed by Lungi Ngidi.

After his dismissal, Washington Sundar smashed fifty and got dimissed for 55 runs off 32 deliveries by Mukesh Kumar.

With Glenn Phillips and Rahul Tewatia at crease, Gujarat Titans scored 210 runs for 4 in their 20 over innings. Glenn Phillips remained unbeaten 14* runs while Rahul Tewatia scored 1* in their innings.

Mukesh Kumar picked two wickets while, Lungi Ngidi and Kuldeep Yadav picked one wicket each in the respective spells.

Chasing 211 run target, Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul opened the innings while Mohammed Siraj opened the bowling attack.

The duo made a solid start scoring 63 runs in the powerplay. Prasidh Krishna brought the first breakthrough dismissing Pathum Nissanka for 41 runs.

Rashid Khan bagged the wickets of Nitish Rana and Sameer Rizvi for 5 and 0 in same over. In the meantime, KL Rahul went on to smash fifty and continued to bat aiming to complete the chase. David Miller who came to bat got injured his left hand finger in the 13th over and retired hurt.

Axar Patel who came to bat got dismissed by 2 runs for Rashid Khan. With Tristan Stubbs sent back to dug out on a run out, KL Rahul who scored 92 runs, got dismissed by Mohammed Siraj.

Miller who returned to field, start to attack Gujarat Titans bowlers and got the side back on track.

Miller went on berserk mode scoring 41 runs off 19 deliveries. In the meantime, Vipraj Nigam lost his wicket to Prasidh Krishna for 12 runs.

While needing two runs in the fifth ball of the final over, Miller decided not to take single and with missing the final delivery costed Delhi Capitals a victory.

By the end of 20 overs, Delhi Capitals scored 209 runs for 8 wickets. Rashid Khan picked three wickets while, Prasidh Krishna completed with 2 wickets.

Gujarat Titans will play their next match against Lucknow Super Giants on April 12 at Ekana Sport Stadium, Lucknow.
