Suryavanshi’s explosive inning of 78 runs off 26 balls led Rajasthan Royals (RR) to a convincing win in Guwahati, and even the opposition team couldn’t help but praise his approach. Speaking after the match, Bhuvneshwar admitted that the teenager’s innings was based on skill, not luck, and highlighted his shot-making quality.
“The way he is playing shots – he is not just playing hard, he is playing perfect cricket shots. For 15 years, he is very mature. He should get all the credit for his batting,” Bhuvneshwar said in the post-match press conference.
It was a statement that reflected not only respect but also a deep understanding of the game. For an experienced bowler like Bhuvneshwar, recognizing the difference between reckless hitting and calculated stroke play makes his praise even more significant.
Age becomes irrelevant in T20 cricket
While the cricket world is surprised at Suryavanshi’s age, Bhuvneshwar made it clear that when a player steps on the field, it is the performance that really matters. Despite being played badly by someone almost half his age, the veteran fast bowler said T20 cricket levels the playing field.
“It’s a T20 game. Yes, he is young, but he is batting very well and maturely. We never feel that anyone is playing us badly. If a 15-year-old can bat like this, whether he is a 25-year-old or a 15-year-old, it is part of T20 cricket,” he explained.
