In a game that was full of power-hitting and fearless intent, Bhuvneshwar Kumar The sporting spirit remained as prominent as Vaibhav Suryavanshi The brilliance of his batting. The veteran Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fast bowler might have found it disappointing that the 15-year-old played badly, but he decided to appreciate the youngster’s exceptional performance.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s praise for Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Suryavanshi’s explosive inning of 78 runs off 26 balls led Rajasthan Royals (RR) to a convincing win in Guwahati, and even the opposition team couldn’t help but praise his approach. Speaking after the match, Bhuvneshwar admitted that the teenager’s innings was based on skill, not luck, and highlighted his shot-making quality.

“The way he is playing shots – he is not just playing hard, he is playing perfect cricket shots. For 15 years, he is very mature. He should get all the credit for his batting,” Bhuvneshwar said in the post-match press conference.

It was a statement that reflected not only respect but also a deep understanding of the game. For an experienced bowler like Bhuvneshwar, recognizing the difference between reckless hitting and calculated stroke play makes his praise even more significant.

Age becomes irrelevant in T20 cricket

While the cricket world is surprised at Suryavanshi’s age, Bhuvneshwar made it clear that when a player steps on the field, it is the performance that really matters. Despite being played badly by someone almost half his age, the veteran fast bowler said T20 cricket levels the playing field.

“It’s a T20 game. Yes, he is young, but he is batting very well and maturely. We never feel that anyone is playing us badly. If a 15-year-old can bat like this, whether he is a 25-year-old or a 15-year-old, it is part of T20 cricket,” he explained.

His words summed up the essence of modern T20 cricket, where fearless batting and quick decision-making are often more important than experience. For Bhuvneshwar, it was not about who was in front of him – it was about how well that player applied his abilities.

Suryavanshi’s innings was a perfect example of this mentality. Rather than being influenced by the occasion or the bowlers, he played with clarity and confidence, playing every ball on its merits. His ability to recognize lengths quickly and play shots cleanly made even experienced bowlers look ordinary.

Suryavanshi’s brilliant innings led RR to a spectacular win over RCB.

Kishore’s innings was not just impressive – it was match-defining. Chasing a challenging target of 202, RR needed a strong start, and Suryavanshi provided exactly that. His innings included eight fours and seven lofted sixes, which set the initial tone during the chase. Along with Dhruv Jurel, who remained unbeaten on 81 off 43 balls, they put together an amazing partnership of 108 runs in just 37 balls. The pair took RR to 97/1 in the powerplay – their highest powerplay score in IPL history.

In the first half of the match, RCB made a spectacular comeback after reaching 94/6, courtesy a fighting knock of 63 runs from 40 balls by captain Rajat Patidar. Their total of 201/8 looked competitive, but Suryavanshi’s attack ensured it was not enough.

RR eventually achieved the target easily, Work completed with two overs remaining. This win not only extends their undefeated streak to four matches, but also cements their position as one of the most dominant teams in this tournament so far.

As far as Suryavanshi is concerned, his performances have made him one of the most prominent players of IPL 2026. Having scored 200 runs in just four matches, he has reached the top of the Orange Cap list, which further underlines his impact.
