IPL 2026, SRH vs PBKS: Fans witnessed rain of fours and sixes at the Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. In the 17th match of IPL 2026, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batted amazingly against Punjab. Sunrisers Hyderabad's batting created a tremendous storm in the beginning, but in the end the team's big dream remained unfulfilled. SRH players have said many times that their target is to score 300 runs in 20 overs. Seeing the explosive initial performance in this match too, it seemed that this dream would be fulfilled today. But the story changed in the last overs.
The explosive pair of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head destroyed the bowling of Punjab Kings badly in the powerplay itself. Together they added 105 runs in the first 6 overs. By the completion of 10 overs, SRH's score had reached 132 and the mark of 150 runs was touched in just 11.4 overs. The projected score was looking beyond 300 runs at times. But Heinrich Klaasen's innings in the middle order spoiled the team's hard work.
Heinrich Klaasen, who was retained for Rs 23 crore, his batting was very slow. He scored only 39 runs in 33 balls, which included only 1 four and 1 six. His slow innings completely ruined SRH's dream of scoring big. In the end the team could score only 219 runs after losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. The run rate dropped significantly in the last 5 overs and only 43 runs could be added.
Abhishek Sharma played a brilliant inning of 74 runs in 28 balls. Whereas, Travis Head scored 38 runs on 23 balls. Ishan Kishan scored 27 runs on 17 balls and Aniket Verma contributed 18 runs on 9 balls. On the other hand, in the bowling of Punjab Kings, Shashank Singh took 2 wickets for 20 runs in 3 overs and took control of the match. Arshdeep Singh also took 2 wickets, apart from this Xavier Bartlett got 1 wicket.
