Rajasthan Royals continued their strong run in IPL 2026 by claiming a fourth consecutive victory on Friday, April 11, defeating Royal Challengers Bengaluru by six wickets at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Rajasthan Royals comfortably chased down 202 in 18 overs, powered by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi ’s 78 off 26 and Dhruv Jurel’s unbeaten 81 from 43 balls.
Former New Zealand pacer Simon Doull lauded Jurel’s composure, particularly during a phase when the Royals lost three wickets in quick succession. Jurel has accumulated 176 runs in four games at an impressive average of 58.67 and a strike rate of 181.45.
Doull added that the decision to trade Sanju Samson to Chennai Super Kings allowed Jurel to bat at No. 3, strengthening the team’s lineup.
“The chase was firmly guided by Dhruv Jurel. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi set the pace and gave them a strong start, but when wickets fell, Jurel’s calmness was exceptional. Batting at No.
3 clearly suits him perfectly. Trading Sanju Samson has allowed RR to settle their opening pair and promote Jurel up the order,” Doull said on Cricbuzz.Former Kiwi pacer Simon Doull praised Dhruv Jurel’s innings at No. 3 for Rajasthan Royals, highlighting his composure, ability to rotate the strike, and skill against spin, calling it a crucial and controlled knock even if not as explosive as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s.
“This is exactly what you want from your No. 3, someone who sees the job through and doesn’t get out when runs are still needed. His innings was beautifully measured.
While it may not have been as explosive as Suryavanshi’s, it was just as controlled and equally vital. Jurel’s ability to rotate the strike and find gaps for twos is one of his key strengths. Not many keepers handle spin this well, and that is where he stands out. The No. 3 position suits him perfectly,” he added.
