Royal Challengers Bengaluru returned to winning ways with an 18-run triumph over Mumbai Indians in a run-fest at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 12. Three RCB batters, including Virat Kohli, recorded fifties against MI to enter the IPL 2026 Orange Cap race.
After failing to score big in the previous two games, Virat Kohli scored 50 runs against Mumbai to enter the top five run-scorers chart. Rajat Patidar also got his second fifty of the season on Sunday, and took a big jump to enter the scoring leader chartsboard in IPL 2025.
Jos Buttler and Shubman Gill, who scored fifties in the afternoon fixture on Sunday and led Gujarat Titans to a dominant win over Lucknow, are also among top contenders to win the prestigious Orange Cap in 2026,
Kohli, the IPL Orange Cup winner in 2016 and 2024, has scored two fifties this season. The RCB stalwart boasts 179 runs in four innings at a strike rate of 162.72 after the latest IPL game. He is fifth in the chart and only 21 runs behind leading scorer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
The 15-year-old RR opener is leading the Orange Cap race with 200 runs in four innings. Rajat Patidar’s latest knock took RCB captain to the second place with 195 runs, ahead of Heinrich Klaasen and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Prasidh Krishna continued his red-hot form by taking 4 wickets for 28, his career best figures in T20, against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday. The GT right-arm pacer surpassed RR’s in-form spinner Ravi Bishnoi to take a lead in the IPL 2026 Purple Cap race and will look to win this award for consecutive seasons.
Meanwhile, Jacob Duffy returned to RCB’s playing eleven against MI on Sunday, and took a wicket to rejoin the Purple Cap race with six wickets in three innings.
