Praful Hinge entered record books when he took three wickets in one over on his IPL debut. Playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad, he destroyed the Rajasthan Royals’ top order in Match 21 of the Indian Premier League 2026. The 24-year-old pacer from Nagpur dismissed Vaibhav Sooryavanshi on the second delivery of the first over of Rajasthan’s run chase.
He then got rid of Dhruv Jurel on the fourth ball and then sent back Lhuan-dre Pretorius on the sixth delivery. All three batters failed to open their account. Praful Hinge is the first bowler in the history of the IPL to take three wickets in the first over of an innings.
The right-arm pacer was not done yet as he added Riyan Parag’s (4) scalp, his fourth of the game, to the bowling figures.
He was brought by SRH in the IPL auction at the base price of INR 30 lakh. Hinge has been working on his skills at the MRF Pace Foundation in Chennai since 2022 and traveled to Brisbane for a 15-day camp in 2024.
Praful plays for Vidarbha in domestic cricket and has taken 27 wickets at an average of 26.66 in 10 first-class matches. In 5 List A contests, he has claimed 5 scalps, while the young seamer dismissed one batter in one T20 game.
He gave trials for SRH, Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans and was confident of finding a franchise in the 19th season.
Interestingly, his journey was not easy, as his father was not in favor of him becoming a cricketer. However, a trial at a summer camp changed everything.
Hinge joined the Vidarbha Cricket Association academy at 16 and trained under coach Sanjeev. He showed his talent from the start and took 36 wickets during the U-19 trials, a performance that impressed many.
