After Rajasthan Royals (RR)’s crushing defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), RR captain Riyan Parag termed it as “just a setback”. He also said that he hasn’t had much time to process his emotions after the defeat, and praised the team’s batting depth, which was proven by the century partnership between Ravindra Jadeja and Donovan Ferreira, despite the team losing five wickets in the first three overs.
Two fast bowlers from Vidarbha and Bihar, Praful Hinge and Saqib Hussain, bowled out RR for 159, breaking RR’s winning streak.
SRH scored 216/6 thanks to captain Ishan Kishan’s brilliant inning of 91 runs in 44 balls. With this win, SRH registered their second win, while RR’s four-match winning streak was broken and they still remain on top. SRH has jumped to fourth place with two wins and three losses. In the post-match presentation, Riyan Parag said on the batting collapse, “Didn’t get much time to soak in the emotions. Credit goes to those who bowled. There were some wrong decisions from our side as well. (Regarding the pitch) It was quite good.
I thought the second ball could have been better. The new ball was quite sticky, but as soon as the shine went off, the pitch got slow. But that’s hindsight now, we could have batted better.”He further said, “To reach 160 even after falling for five wickets for nine runs, it shows the depth of the batting. It was just a blip. We move towards Kolkata and will do something better there.”
On the performance of SRH’s uncapped fast bowlers, Ryan said, “I haven’t seen them much in domestic cricket. I saw Saqib once in Bihar against Assam. He bowled brilliantly.
The pressure in front of the home crowd, the way he bowled, was fantastic.”SRH batted first and scored 216/6, with a brilliant inning from captain Ishan Kishan (91 runs in 44 balls, 8 fours and 6 sixes). Apart from this, Heinrich Klaasen (40 runs, 26 balls, 1 four and 3 sixes) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (28 runs, 13 balls, 4 fours) made important contributions. When RR chased the target of 217 runs, their top order was dismantled by debutant Praful Hinge (4/34, 4 overs) in the very first over, leaving RR at 9/5. Although Donovan Ferreira (69 runs in 44 balls, 7 fours and 3 sixes) and Ravindra Jadeja (45 runs in 32 balls, 5 fours) made a century partnership for the net run rate, but RR were bowled out for 159 runs.
Saqib Hussain (4/24) dismissed him cheaply after some time. The post “It was just a shock”: RR captain Riyan Parag’s reaction after defeat to SRH appeared first on Buzz | ….
