The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) take on a rejuvenated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) side at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Match 27 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday, April 18.

The SRH side come on the back of a 57-run victory over the Rajasthan Royals on home soil. The win was mainly down to their debutant fast-bowling duo of Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain, with the pair taking four wickets each to get their side over the line.

CSK, on the other hand, have secured back-to-back victories at Chepauk, beating the Delhi Capitals and the Kolkata Knight Riders. The five-time champions defended 193 against KKR in their most recent win, with Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad taking 3 for 21.

Both sides made excellent substitutions in their previous games. SRH brought in Hussain for his debut, where he picked up a wicket in his first over, while the Super Kings saw Akeal Hosein come in and take the all-important wicket of Angkrish Raghuvanshi in the second innings. In modern IPL, the right usage of the Impact Sub can be the difference between a win and a defeat, making it a strategic decision.

Predicted Impact Players for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

Sakib Hussain: Sakib Hussain could make his second consecutive substitute appearance for SRH against CSK. The pace bowler took four wickets on his debut against RR, including taking the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal in his first over.

Liam Livingstone: With SRH playing three overseas players in the XI, Liam Livingstone can come in as an Impact Sub as a destructive lower-order batter who can offer some part-time spin.

Shivam Mavi: A bowler renowned for his pace, Mavi is another fast-bowling option at SRH’s disposal. He has taken 30 wickets in the IPL but is yet to make his debut for the Sunrisers.

Smaran Ravichandran: A batting option, Smaran Ravichandran comes into the IPL on the back of some good form for Karnataka in the domestic circuit. His overall T20 strike-rate is 162.45.

Harshal Patel: An experienced IPL campaigner, Harshal Patel played three times for SRH this season but has failed to take a single wicket.

Matthew Short: A middle-order batter who can offer a spin option, Short can be used as an Impact Sub if CSK lose early wickets in the first half of their innings.

Kartik Sharma: Signed for INR 14.20 crore, Kartik Sharma has played thrice for CSK this season, scoring 25 runs at a strike-rate of 119.04.

Prashant Veer: Yet another expensive buy, Prashant Veer came in to field against KKR when Khaleel Ahmed went out injured. He scored 43 against RCB in only his second appearance for CSK.

Matt Henry: An overseas fast-bowling option, Matt Henry can be used instead of Akeal Hosein should the Hyderabad conditions offer something for the pacers.
