Delhi: In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Gujarat Titans (GT) registered another win by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by five wickets. In this match played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the team achieved the target of 181 runs in 19.4 overs. This was the third consecutive win for Gujarat Titans, in which earlier Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were also defeated. With this victory, the team has six points from five matches and has reached fourth place in the points table.
Gujarat Titans captain Shubhman Gill batted brilliantly in this match and scored 86 runs in 50 balls. His innings included 8 fours and 4 sixes. However, despite the victory, Gill did not seem completely satisfied. He said that the team should have finished the match sooner and he is personally disappointed with the way he was out.
Gill also said that he wanted to help the team win by staying at the crease till the end. He admitted that better performance was expected from him in the role of finisher and he would try to overcome this shortcoming in the coming matches.
Gill told that he took full advantage of the break before IPL 2026. During this time, he paid special attention to his fitness and also tried to improve his mental strength. He said that his focus has not only been on technical improvement but also on strengthening the strategic understanding of the game.
On the basis of this brilliant innings, Shubman Gill has won the Orange Cap, leaving behind Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) veteran batsman Virat Kohli. In the four matches played so far, Gill has scored 251 runs and his average has been 62.75. He also has three half-centuries in his name.
On the other hand, the problems of Kolkata Knight Riders are increasing. The team has not been able to register its first win in IPL 2026 so far and remains at the bottom of the points table with one point.
