Indian cricket team's star spinner Varun Chakraborty has been going through a very bad phase for some time. After a strong performance in the group stage of T20 World Cup 2026, he was seen struggling continuously. His struggle continued in IPL 2026 also, where he had to face drought of wickets from Kolkata Knight Riders. But now he is seen returning to his old colors again and in the web of mystery of his spin, he has badly trapped the batsmen of Rajasthan Royals.
The magic of Varun's spin was once again seen in the Kolkata-Rajasthan match on Sunday 19 April at the Eden Gardens Stadium. At the beginning of this season, Varun Chakraborty was failing miserably in 3 consecutive matches. He was beaten badly and did not get any wicket. Amidst all this, Varun was also dropped from the team for 2 matches. Now finally he has started doing wonders again.
Varun, who took 2 wickets in the last match against Gujarat Titans, showed the magic of his spin against Rajasthan which made him so much talked about. Vaibhav Suryavanshi once again made a strong start for Rajasthan, who was batting first in this match.
When he started increasing his pace, Varun gave the team its first success by sending this explosive batsman back to the pavilion. After this he did not stop. In the next 3 overs, Varun sent back in-form Dhruv Jurel and then Rajasthan captain Riyan Parag to the pavilion. In this way, Varun took three wickets out of the top-4 batting of Rajasthan. Overall, Varun spent only 14 runs and took 3 wickets in his spell of 4 overs. This performance of Varun brought a huge relief for him because after exactly 60 days, he could spend runs at an economy of less than 6 and take 3 wickets in a match.
Earlier on February 18, in the T20 World Cup match against Netherlands, he had taken only 3 wickets for 14 runs in 3 overs.
