Regarding young batsman Ayush Mhatre, coach Mike Hussey said, it cannot be said how much time will it take to recover.
Hyderabad. Due to injury to young batsman Ayush Mhatre, it is difficult for him to play further matches in the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which is a huge blow for Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
18-year-old Mhatre suffered a hamstring strain during CSK’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Mhatre, who played as an impact player in this match, looked very uncomfortable and after that he could not stay at the crease for long.CSK batting coach Mike Hussey said after the match that he has suffered a hamstring strain. Right now I don’t know how serious the injury is. We will get him scanned tomorrow or the day after. The former Australian batsman said that Mhatre will be scanned to assess the severity of the injury and it cannot be said with certainty how long it will take for him to recover.
It can take up to six months to recover from a hamstring strain. Hussey said, unfortunately the situation is looking very bad. His absence will be a big loss for us because he is in very good form.
Mhatre has scored 201 runs so far this season at a strike rate of 177.87. Hussey, however, said that this would be an opportunity for other players in the team.
“He is a talented young player, but this will give someone else an opportunity.
So this is also exciting. We have some very good players who haven’t got their chance yet. So it would be awesome to have one of them. CSK is currently placed seventh in the points table with two wins from six matches. The five-time champions will face Mumbai Indians in their next match on April 23 at the Wankhede Stadium.
