Punjab Kings are enjoying the Indian Premier League 2026 like no other franchise. They are going past franchises without facing a significant challenge. In their 6th match of the 19th season, they outclassed Lucknow Super Giants by 54 runs in New Chandigarh. After reaching 254 for 7 in their 20 overs, the Shreyas Iyer-led side restricted the LSG to 200/5.

Punjab have reached 11 points from 6 matches. For the Giants, openers Mitchell Marsh (40 off 28) and Ayush Badoni meant business, and even captain Rishabh Pant (43 off 23) dispatched the deliveries for sixes. However, the remaining willow holders were not able to handle the pressure of the asking run rate. Nicholas Pooran, who was retained for INR 23 crore, managed just 9 runs. Aiden Markram (42 off 22) and Mukul Choudhary (21* off 17) tried their best but fell short.

For Punjab,

Earlier, Priyansh Arya targeted all the parts of the ground, facing just 37 balls for his 93 runs in the PBKS vs LSG match. He struck 9 sixes and 4 boundaries, with his runs coming at a strike rate of 251.35. Although Prabhsimran Singh couldn’t open his account, it proved to be a blessing in disguise as Cooper Connolly upped the ante, amassing 87 runs off 46 balls, including 8 fours and 7 sixes in IPL 2026.

Captain Iyer (5) departed early. Marcus Stoinis (29 off 16), Nehal Wadhera (13 off 7) and Shahank Singh (17 off 6) helped in posting 254/7.

It was a rare off day for LSG pacer Mohammed Shami, who was clobbered for 56 runs from his 4 overs. The veteran took 1 wicket, but he was taken for plenty by the in-form Punjab team. Manimaran Siddharth and Prince Yadav claimed 2 wickets each. With 6 matches and 4 points, Lucknow remained in 8th place.
