Arshdeep Singh Creates History, Becomes First Bowler To Take 100 Wickets In IPL For PBKS
Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh is leading the Punjab Kings’ bowling attack in the IPL 2026 match against the Mumbai Indians. He conceded only one run in his first over of the match and then, on the first ball of his second over, picked up Ryan Rickelton’s wicket. The wicket of Rickelton, who made 2 runs from 8 balls, helped Arshdeep become the first bowler in the world to take 100 wickets for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The ongoing IPL 2026 match between PBKS and MI at Wankhede Stadium is Arshdeep’s 87th IPL game for the Punjab-based franchise.
In the list of bowlers with the most wickets for the Punjab Kings in the IPL, Arshdeep is followed by former India spinner Piyush Chawla.
Chawla played 87 IPL matches for the Preity Zinta-owned side from 2008 to 2013 and dismissed 84 batters.
Punjab-born fast bowler Sandeep Sharma, who is part of the Rajasthan Royals squad in IPL 2026, is third in the list of most IPL wickets for PBKS. Sandeep played 61 IPL matches from 2012 to 2021 and picked up 73 wickets.
The record of taking the most wickets for one team in the IPL is held by Sunil Narine.
The former West Indies spinner has played 193 IPL matches so far for Kolkata Knight Riders since making his IPL debut in 2012 and has 195 wickets to his credit. India’s Jasprit Bumrah is in 2nd place with 183 wickets in 150 IPL matches for the Mumbai Indians.
After opening his wicket account by dismissing Rickelton, Arshdeep removed Suryakumar Yadav on the second ball of the third over of MI’s innings. While Rickelton was caught by Shashank Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal completed Surya’s catch.
