There is a huge competition among the players to make a place in Team India. This story is not of any one format but of all three formats. The result of that competition is that some players have got the opportunity to show their skills only occasionally. Now, for many, years have passed since they played a match for Team India again. There are many such players playing in IPL 2026, who got a chance to play for Team India in some format or the other, but now they are out for a long time. We have prepared a list of 11 such players, who are playing for different teams in IPL.

Devdutt Padikkal

25 year old left-handed batsman Devdutt Padikkal is a top order batsman, who made his international debut 5 years ago i.e. in the year 2021. He played his first match in T20 format. He also made his Test debut in March 2024. But after the Perth Test played against Australia in November 2024, he is out of Team India. Devdutt Padikkal, playing for RCB, is performing brilliantly with the bat in IPL 2026.

Prithvi Shaw

Whenever there is talk of talented players in Indian cricket, Prithvi Shaw's name will definitely come up in it. But, cricket demands discipline along with talent. Prithvi Shaw's career faltered due to the same indiscipline. So much so that not only was he left out of Team India, he also lost his chance to play IPL. But, for IPL 2026, Prithvi Shaw has been bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 75 lakh. However, he has not yet got to play any match in this IPL season. They are waiting for their turn. It has been 5 years since he was out of Team India.

Rajat Patidar

The captain of RCB has been out of Team India for the last 2 years. But judging by his performance in IPL 2026, it seems that the wait for his return to Team India is about to end. Rajat Patidar's bat is scoring runs in every match. He is leading in hitting sixes. Rajat Patidar played his last match for Team India as a Test match in February 2024.

Sarfaraz Khan

This time Sarfaraz Khan has got a chance to debut in IPL with Chennai Super Kings. He is looking in full colors in the yellow jersey. A long time has passed since Sarfaraz Khan was out of Team India.

Krunal Pandya

Spin all-rounder Krunal Pandya made his debut in Team India in the year 2018. Between 2018 and 2021, he played 5 ODIs and 19 T20s but after that, when he was out of Team India, he could not return. Krunal is playing for RCB in IPL 2026 and is in the news this season for his bouncer.

Venkatesh Iyer

Pace all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer made his debut in Team India in the year 2021. He played a total of 11 international matches which included 2 ODIs.

Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal, who made his international debut in 2016, has not been seen in Team India after August 2023. In IPL 2026, he is spreading the magic of his spin for Punjab Kings. Chahal, who played 72 ODIs and 80 T20s for India, is counted among the most successful batsmen of IPL.

Trio of Bhuvneshwar, Natarajan, Sandeep

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been out of Team India for 4 years. T. Natarajan has been out for 5 years and Sandeep Sharma has been out for a decade. These three fast bowlers are in high spirits in IPL 2026. Bhuvneshwar is playing for RCB. While Natarajan is from Delhi, Sandeep Sharma has become the pride of Rajasthan Royals.
