According to sources with knowledge of the matter, the landlord of the restaurant had approached the civil court complaining of not receiving rent. It is alleged that rent, maintenance charges and other fixed payments were not made for several months. After hearing this, the court directed that the restaurant will remain closed until the outstanding amount is paid.

The thing to note is that Virat Kohli had already distanced himself from this Bengaluru outlet. It is being told that due to continuous legal troubles and operational problems, he had distanced himself from this business. However, the name of his lifestyle brand was associated with this restaurant.

The restaurant was also facing investigation from the Municipal Corporation and other agencies for some time. According to reports, questions were raised regarding the necessary permissions and safety standards here. Notices were issued especially regarding fire safety and some important NOCs.

Apart from this, a case of violation of smoking rules was also registered against this restaurant. Action was taken under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act as there was no designated smoking area found here. Additionally, there were allegations that the restaurant was being operated beyond the stipulated time.

These continuous disputes and legal hurdles also affected the business. According to sources, after the removal of Kohli’s name, the number of customers also declined, which further increased the financial pressure on the restaurant.

The outlet was being operated by a hospitality company, which handled its day-to-day activities. There are outlets of ‘One8 Commune’ in other cities of the country, but the closure of an important location like Bengaluru is being considered a big blow.

For the time being, the restaurant will remain closed until all dues are paid and necessary legal and administrative conditions are met. Till now, no official statement has come out from the restaurant operators or any representative associated with the brand in this matter.
