Chennai: In a thrilling match of IPL 2026, Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 8 wickets and achieved their fourth win. In this match, Sai Sudharshan’s brilliant inning of 87 runs, contributions from Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler helped Gujarat achieve the target. Chasing a target of 159, the Titans won the match with 20 balls to spare, and moved up to fifth place in the points table.

Gujarat made a perfect run chase. The pair of Sai Sudharshan and Shubhman Gill made a strong start in the powerplay and took the Titans to 55/0.

However, Gill was stumped by Sanju Samson in the 7th over, but Sudharshan handled the innings brilliantly and completed his half-century in 33 balls.

Sudharshan played excellent shots against the spinners and fast bowlers, and provided momentum to the innings. Jos Buttler also managed to support him, although he continued to play despite dropping an easy catch by Sanju Samson. Sudharshan scored 87 runs off 46 balls to take GT to 130 before Buttler finished the match. Gujarat Titans completed the target of 159 runs in just 14.4 overs.

Earlier, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad scored unbeaten 74 off 60 balls to take his team to 158/7.

However, Gujarat’s bowlers kept up the pressure, especially Kagiso Rabada who bowled brilliantly and took figures of 3/25. Apart from Rabada, Mohammad Siraj, Manish Suthar and Arshad Khan also bowled brilliantly.

This victory of Gujarat will help them take a strong step towards the IPL playoffs.
