The 27-year-old pacer Mohsin Khan stole the headlines when he claimed the first fifer of the IPL 2026. UP-based pacer bowled four overs and picked five wickets for 23 runs. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were shell-shocked as they lost six early wickets for just 73 runs after eleven overs.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) coach Justin Langer has backed the pacer to play international cricket for India. Speaking at the end of the game, the former Australian batter praised Mohsin and his teammate Prince Yadav for their amazing bowling and predicted the duo would have more success, based on their current form.

The 55-year-old also added that Mohsin’s biggest strength is to hit the perfect length and the usage of his tall frame and wrists. Langer mentioned that the young seamer was bowling well after overcoming injuries in the past and that he has shown tremendous results so far this season.

Mohsin’s incredible rise

In 2018, theMumbai Indians picked up a young, unknown pacer from Uttar Pradesh, but he didn’t make his debut. Mohsin was warming the benches before he was released at the end of the 2021 season and was picked up by Lucknow ahead of the 2022 edition. Having finally been given a chance, the left-arm seamer bowled with good speed and clocked 151 kmph that season before a spate of injuries stalled his progress.

After missing the entire IPL 2025 season, Lucknow’s pace ace finally returned to action this year and has played four matches. Nine wickets with one fifer have certainly shown the world that the pacer is still dangerous with the ball and can trouble the batters.

Bharat Arun’s key role in youngster’s resurgence

Langer credited the role of former Indian bowling Bharat Arun behind the pacer’s return to form with the ball.

Lucknow’s coach said that the youngster spent a lot of time with Arun in the latter’s bowling academy in Chennai, working on his fitness and bowling in general.

All those efforts seem to have paid off as the young pacer has regained his rhythm and bowled with fire.
