A majority of the Indian players, along with the huge support staff, are scheduled to leave for New York on May 25.

The remaining players will only go for the T20 World Cup after the May 26 IPL final.

Prior to this, the players from eliminated franchises were scheduled to depart for New York on May 21, two days following the IPL’s last league match on May 19. However, it is now known that plans have changed, and the first group of players will now fly on May 25.

“Skipper Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep Singh, and Axar Patel are some of the players along with support staff who are expected to leave on May 25.

“Earlier, the first batch was scheduled to fly on 21st May, but since India is only playing one warm-up match (against Bangladesh on June 1), the players will get to spend a few extra days at a home,” the BCCI source said.

Only the players who will feature in the Indian Premier League final will stay and will depart for New York on May 27.

In addition, the team will have enough time to recover from jet lag and have three or four productive net sessions prior to the Bangladesh warm-up match.

India’s campaign will begin on June 5 against Ireland in New York, followed by the clash against arch rivals Pakistan on June 9.
