South African fast bowler Lungi Ngidi has returned to Delhi Capitals’ (DC) practice session only days after sustaining a head injury in their game against the Punjab Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, April 25, in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).

In trying to track back and grab a catch, Ngidi lost his balance and fell headfirst on the ground, which resulted in him being stretchered away in an ambulance to a nearby hospital. He was quickly declared out of risk and stable, with the bowler himself clarifying the same on social media.

Ngidi was today, April 30, seen returning to DC’s practice session, with David Miller and Kyle Jamieson welcoming him back.

In a video shared by the Capitals on their social media, the 30-year-old was seen knocking the stumps with his bowling, which was followed by a joyous celebration from the South African and his teammates watching at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

The video of Lungi Ndigi bowling on his return from injury can be seen below:

Based on the aforementioned video, Ngidi could be match fit and don the DC shirt very soon. This will be a massive boost for the 2020 finalists, with talismanic bowler Mitchell Starc also back in their ranks for the rest of the IPL season.

Ngidi had a decent time out in the 2026 IPL prior to his freak injury. The right-arm pacer had taken seven wickets from as many matches. The management will now need to find a way to fit both him and Starc into their playing XI as they look to have a late push towards the playoffs in the second half of the season.

As things stand, DC are currently seventh in the standings, having picked up just six points. They are currently on a three-match winless run in the IPL, and desperately need a win to kickstart their campaign back on track.
