An elderly fan was injured by a ball hit for six by Priyansh Arya in the Punjab Kings' match against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium in New Chandigarh on April 19. A video had been doing the rounds on social media after the game of the fan seated in the stand, bleeding profusely from a cut on his face.

In a video uploaded onto social media by the franchise, the fan, identified as Krishan Chand Kamboj, was seen sharing a video conference with franchise co-owner Preity Zinta and Priyansh. Chand revealed that the ball had struck him over his eyebrow, where a cut had developed on impact.

The young cricketer expressed his concern over the injury, mentioning that he was worried after seeing the video on social media. In a heartfelt gesture, Zinta extended an invitation to the fan to the Kings' next home game in Dharamshala.

For the unversed, Punjab Kings were handed their first loss of the season by the Rajasthan Royals. Being put into bat, the Shreyas Iyer-led side managed a total of 222/3 in their 20 overs, courtesy a half-century from opening batter Prabhsimran Singh and a late 22-ball 62 from the bat of Marcus Stoinis.

The hosts were unable to defend the total as the Royals started brilliantly in the powerplay, and the pair of Donovan Ferreira and Shubham Dubey led RR home in the final over of the game. Ferreira was unbeaten on 52 off 26 balls, while Dubey remained unbeaten on 31.

The Kings remain first on the table with 13 points from eight matches, with six wins. They head to Ahmedabad to take on the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 03.
