Orange Cap and Purple Cap Holder List in IPL 2026: KL Rahul currently holds the orange cap for the 19th season of IPL. But, now he can snatch it from them. In the race for the Orange Cap, two batsmen of Sunrisers Hyderabad - Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen - seem to be posing a tremendous challenge for KL Rahul, who has to play against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 3. The race for the Purple Cap of IPL 2026 has also become no less interesting. There, RCB's Bhaneshwar Kumar seems to be facing a tough competition from CSK's Anshul Kamboj.

KL Rahul has orange cap but…

First of all, let us understand how exciting the Orange Cap fight is. KL Rahul is currently number 1 in this race. That means he has an orange cap. This opening batsman of Delhi Capitals has scored 433 runs in 9 matches played so far in IPL 2026. But, Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen, who are at second and third place in the Orange Cap race, are also not far behind KL Rahul.

Abhishek Sharma or Heinrich Klaasen can snatch the orange cap

Abhishek Sharma has scored 425 runs in 9 matches played so far. Meaning he is just 9 runs away from surpassing KL Rahul. Whereas Heinrich Klaasen has scored 414 runs in 9 matches so far and he needs 20 runs to overtake KL Rahul. The big thing is that both these batsmen have to compete against KKR. The match to be played in Hyderabad on 3rd May will be a big opportunity for Abhishek and Klaasen and that is why we are saying that KL Rahul can snatch the Orange Cap.

Bhuvi has purple cap but competition from Anshul Kamboj

Talking about Purple Cap, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is currently leading in that race. This RCB bowler has captured the Purple Cap by taking 17 wickets in the 9 matches played so far. But, to keep the purple cap on his head, Bhuvneshwar Kumar needs to put in a little more effort. This is because he is facing a tough competition from Anshul Kamboj.

Both have 17 wickets, then why does Bhuvi have the purple cap?

CSK bowler also has 17 wickets in his name in 9 matches played so far. But due to better average and economy, Bhuvi has captured the purple cap. Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 17 wickets in 9 matches at an average of 15.52 and economy of 7.54, while Anshul Kamboj did so at an average of 15.82 and economy of 8.49.
