Virat Kohli’s big explosion in Raipur— Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium on Wednesday night was in the name of “King Kohli”. Playing against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Virat Kohli played a stormy inning of 105 runs in 60 balls. After being out for a duck in the last two matches, Kohli not only returned to form but also became the fastest batsman to score 14,000 runs in the history of T20 cricket.

As soon as Virat Kohli completed his 78th run during his century, he broke the world record of West Indies legend Chris Gayle. Kohli is now the first batsman in the world to touch the mark of 14,000 T20 runs in the shortest innings. On a slow Raipur pitch where other batsmen were struggling, Kohli scored at a strike rate of 175. His innings included 12 fours and 4 skyscraper sixes.

Kohli looked in great rhythm right from the beginning of the match. Taking advantage of the powerplay, he put pressure on KKR’s spinners and fast bowlers.
