Delhi: Mumbai Indians (MI) registered a spectacular victory by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 6 wickets at their home ground on the basis of Tilak Verma’s explosive batting and Shardul Thakur’s sharp bowling. Chasing the big target of 201 runs, Mumbai team won the match in excellent style. Tilak completely changed the course of the match by playing a stormy innings of 75 runs in just 33 balls and snatched the victory from the hands of Punjab. Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer looked quite dejected after the fifth consecutive defeat.

Tilak Verma’s batting changed the match

After the match, Shreyas Iyer praised Tilak Verma profusely. He said that this defeat is very disappointing for the team, but he does not hold any single reason responsible. According to Iyer, this match was a great competition between the two teams. He believed that Tilak batted very intelligently and played shots according to the field conditions and turned the match towards Mumbai.

Azmatullah Omarzai took over the innings of Punjab

The start of Punjab Kings was not very strong and at one time the team seemed to be limited to low scores. However, Azmatullah Umarzai batted brilliantly and brought the team out of the difficult situation. Shreyas Iyer said that his team was hoping to reach 170 to 180 runs, but Azmatullah Umarzai’s aggressive batting changed the entire atmosphere. Especially his scoop shots and big sixes gave tremendous momentum to the team in the last overs, due to which Punjab could cross 200 runs.

Despite facing continuous defeats, Shreyas Iyer did not let the morale of the team fall. He said that Punjab Kings are now concentrating fully on the next matches. Iyer expressed confidence that both the upcoming matches will prove to be very important and exciting for the team.
