Virat Kohli's new avatar
Centuries ago a 20-year-old Greek boy became king of Macedonia after the death of his father. Later, the same boy who conquered the whole world was called Alexander The Great. We Hindi people know him as Alexander the Great. I always liked reading, seeing and hearing about Alexander. The more I learned about him, the more I understood that he was a wonderful general. His biggest characteristic was his speed. He was cruel to his enemies, aggressive, aggressive, ferocious, and some people even described him as scary.
I always wanted to know Alexander closely. I had to read the things written by him, or should I say, I had to listen to a podcast of Alexander The Great. This curiosity increased further when it was revealed that there was another side to Alexander as well. Apart from being a great warrior, he was also a philosopher. I always wondered what a man would think after conquering the whole world? What would he say?
It is said that while leaving, Alexander had asked that both his hands be kept out of the coffin, so that the world could see that even Alexander the Great was going empty handed. (However, I do not know whether there is historical evidence for this or not.) But yesterday, RCB uploaded an interview of Alexander The Great of cricket i.e. Virat Kohli on its YouTube channel. After watching that 14 minute 33 second video, only one thing was wandering in my mind - I swear man, what a guy he is, this is the same person who was once very ferocious, cruel and scary for the opposing teams - just like Alexander the Great.
I remember Virat Kohli with those Do I look like Pooja Path types. I remember Virat Kohli bouncing near the slips in Test cricket. If you can give it, you gotta take it back. Otherwise, Virat from dont give it comes to mind. I remember Virat Kohli screaming and full of passion in the white jersey. But the Virat seen in this interview was something different. This one has become Kohli and “Virat”.
It seems as if the earlier Virat was hungry, and this one is satisfied. Now he doesn't want anything. Now he does not take any credit for himself, he accepts everything on the blessings of God.
Because this Virat Kohli has become Alexander The Great of his time.
This Kohli says that he has nothing to do, he just wants to keep playing. He prepares himself not for any one match or tournament, but for every day. This Virat Kohli has become great. This Virat Kohli has gone far beyond victory and defeat.
Today for the first time I felt that if Alexander the Great of Greece had ever had a podcast, perhaps he too would have said something similar to what King Kohli said today. Thank you Virat Kohli, for being so great. And yes, those who know me closely know how much of a critic I have been of Virat Kohli, but today I could not help but write this… Rest, keep writing and reading. (this article)
