Ishan Kishan Stars as SRH Seals Playoff Spot With Victory Over CSK

After choosing to bat first, Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad opened the innings while Nitish Reddy opened the bowling attack.

Despite a brilliant start from Samson, he could not convert the start as he got dismissed by Pat Cummins for 27 runs. He got dismissed on a length delivery outside off, where the ball got thick outside edge as Ishan Kishan picked the catch behind the wickets.

Urvil Patel, who came to bat at No.3, showed some intent with a couple of sixes, but got dismissed cheaply by Sakib Hussain. He got dismissed on off cutter where the batter goes for pull and misses as the ball hits off stump.

With Ruturaj Gaikwad and Kartik Sharma at crease, CSK scored 57 runs in the powerplay.

A cameo from Kartik Sharma helped the side to stabilise the innings. However a brilliant over from Pat Cummins bagged the wicket of Kartik for 32 runs.

He got dismissed on a wide short delivery where the batter hit the ball straight to man stationed at sweeper cover. With the dismissal of Ruturaj Gaikwad for 15 runs, CSK lost four wicket for 100. Pat Cummins bagged three crucial wickets for the side putting pressure on CSK.

However, Dewald Brevis and Shivam Dube forged a 59-run partnership reviving the side. Eshan Malinga bagged the wicket of Dewald Brevis for 44 runs.

He got bowled out on a lengthy delivery as the side lost 5 wickets. Sakib Hussain bagged the wicket of Shivam Dube for 26 runs. He got bowled out on a slower delivery as he misses time and the ball hit the leg stump.

In the final over, Prashant Veer got dismissed for 11 run by Praful Hinge. By the end of 20 overs, CSK scored 180 runs for 7 wickets.

Pat Cummins bagged three wickets while Sakib Hussain bagged two wickets. Praful Hinge, and Eshan Malinga bagged one wicket each.

Chasing 181 run target, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head opened the innings while Mukesh Choudhary opened the bowling attack.

Mukesh Choudhary brought the first breakthrough dismissing Travis Head for 6 runs. He got dismissed on a short delivery around off where the batter attempted for a pull shot and loses the shape in process leaving the ball to have bottom edge as the ball goes high in the air and Mukesh Choudhary picked the catch.

With Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan at crease, Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 45 runs in the powerplay.

Akeal Hosein brought the second breakthrough dismissing Abhishek Sharma for 26 runs. He got dismissed on a catch by Spencer Johnson in deep backwards square while attempting for a slog sweep.

Heinrich Klaasen who came to bat at No. 4, slowing anchoring the side on the chase while playing along with Ishan Kishan.

Noor Ahmad bagged the wicket of Heinrich Klaasen for 47 runs. With the dismissal of Nitish Reddy for 11 runs, Anshul Kamboj bagged the wicket of Ishan Kishan for 70 runs.

With Salil Arora and Smaran Ravinchandran at crease, SRH secured a five wicket victory and also qualified their spot for the playoffs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will play their next match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 22 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
