Delhi: Even though Kolkata Knight Riders did not qualify for the play-offs in IPL 2026, it is not that there was nothing for them this season. In wicketkeeper-batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi, they have got such a talent who can play with the team for the next many seasons.

The record was: 422 runs in 12 innings at an average of 42.20 and strike rate of 146.52.

For Kolkata Knight Riders, two batsmen played more than 14 innings and both of them could not score 350 runs. In comparison, Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored five 50s and received praise. This is the second consecutive season when he has scored 300 or more runs.

However, the season ended on a disappointing note for Angkrish and he was ruled out of the IPL midway through the season after suffering a concussion and a finger fracture. While playing in the match against Mumbai Indians, he collided with Varun Chakravarthy and the injury ruled him out midway through the season.

Both of them collided with each other while trying to take the catch. When Tilak Verma tried to hit a slog on Varun’s ball, both of them collided while trying to catch that shot. Varun had taken the catch but after the collision, the catch was also missed.

Not only was Angkrish in the news this season for his excellent batting, a yellow sticker on his bat was also in the news. The sticker on his bat has the message ‘CanKids KidScan’. This is not anyone’s name, it is an organization which helps needy children in the fight against cancer. Is there any specific reason for placing this particular sticker?

Angkrish once said that if even one person helps fight cancer after seeing/taking inspiration from the sticker on his bat, it would be a personal victory for him. This is not just a sticker, it is a story of a family’s fight, pain and hope. Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s celebration and bat stickers convey a message more than just cricket. As they made 50, they appealed with this sticker to raise awareness and help for a good cause.

Actually, when Angkrish was 8 years old, his younger brother Krishang was diagnosed with blood cancer at the age of 3.

For the next 5 years, the Raghuvanshi family remained in a bad condition and Krishang’s cancer had tied the family together. Angkrishna did not know much but always remained with his brother. Ultimately Krishang defeated cancer. There was relief from the illness and the Raghuvanshi family gradually returned to a normal life.

Still, Angkrish has not forgotten what happened at that time and is trying to help needy children fight cancer by putting this ‘Cankids KidsCan’ sticker on his bat. While most of the cricketers are usually using their bats for commercial branding and making money, Angkrish Raghuvanshi has given a major part of his bat as a charity to spread awareness about cancer.

This yellow sticker is stuck on the back of Angkrish’s bat.

Angkrish said, ‘I have been associated with CanKids ever since my younger brother was diagnosed with leukemia. That experience taught my family about the millions of children who go through this journey without any help. I was too young to fully understand it at the time, but as I grew up, my family helped me understand its impact. That’s when I decided to do both, support this work and help spread awareness about the work being done.

Apart from the sticker, there is also a donation link to the foundation in her Instagram bio. Having specifically chosen IPL for promotion, they have an idea of the reach and scale of the tournament. ‘It also gave me extra motivation to perform well so that I can pick up my bat more often and help spread awareness.’
