Delhi: In the second qualifier match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 7 wickets to reach the finals, but Sai Sudarshan’s dismissal during the match was the most talked about thing. He got out hit-wicket for the second consecutive match, seeing which even the spectators present on the field were surprised.

Sudarshan looked in great form in this match played at Maharaja Yadvindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. He played a quick inning of 58 runs in just 32 balls. In his innings he hit 8 fours and 1 six. Gujarat team appeared to be in a strong position and Sudarshan was scoring runs rapidly.

How did hit-wicket out happen?

Brajesh Sharma was bowling the 13th over of Gujarat’s innings. At the beginning of the over, Sai Sudarshan showed aggressive style and sent the ball for four. After this the strike kept changing and Shubman Gill also hit a brilliant four, but a strange sight was seen on the last ball of the over.

Sai Sudarshan’s bat slipped from his hand while playing a shot and hit the stumps directly. The umpire immediately gave him hit-wicket out.

Gill was shocked, there was silence in the stadium

After the left-handed opener was out like this, there was silence on the field for a few moments. Captain Shubhman Gill also looked very disappointed and sat on his knees. Ravi Shastri, who was doing the commentary, jokingly said that maybe there is a need to apply Fevicol on the bat, because Sudarshan has been out like this for the second consecutive match.

Was out like this against RCB also

Interestingly, Sai Sudarshan was out in the same manner in the earlier match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). In that match too, his bat left his hand and hit the stumps. A similar incident in two consecutive matches surprised even the cricket fans.

Unwanted record registered in the name of Sai Sudarshan

With this wicket, Sai Sudarshan has joined the list of players who have been hit-wicketed out the most three times in men’s T20 cricket. The names of Andre Russell and Shoaib Malik are also included in this list.

The special thing is that all three hit-wickets of Sudarshan have come in IPL only.

3 times – Shoaib Malik
3 times – Sai Sudarshan

It is noteworthy that Sai Sudarshan’s hit-wicket dismissal in two consecutive matches was quite surprising for the cricket fans. In a fast format like T20, batsmen lose their balance while playing big shots, but making the same mistake continuously has become a topic of discussion.

However, it cannot be ignored that Sudarshan is in excellent form and he batted very aggressively against Rajasthan Royals also. His innings of 58 runs played an important role in putting Gujarat in a strong position.

However, it is also true that such strange records are made in the career of any player, but that does not diminish the talent of the player. Sudarshan has proved with his batting this season that he is a player of big matches. The good thing for Gujarat is that the team has reached the finals and the confidence of a batsman like Sudarshan still seems high. Now it will be interesting to see how he makes a comeback in the finals.

Let us tell you that Gujarat team will face Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final match of IPL 2026 to be held in Ahmedabad on May 31.
