Vaibhav Sooryavanshi lit up IPL 2026 with huge sixes that shattered records. Yet, when asked what mattered most, he pointed not to numbers, just growth through changing game moments. At fifteen, his calm under shifting pressure stood out more than any boundary count. Riding on consistency, the young Royals batter claimed MVP honors following relentless performances. Instead of flash, it was quiet adjustments between overs that shaped his rise.

Even though Rajasthan Royals missed out on the final following their defeat to Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi ended up topping the charts for most runs.

Hitting 776 across 16 knocks, he held a steady average of 48.50, not far below his explosive strike rate near 237. A hundred here, five fifties there, all adding up to that Orange Cap finish.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi on learning to handle pressure and adapt his game

Looking back at that breakout year, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi mentioned how the event showed him ways to stay steady under stress while shifting tactics when the match required it.

Though calm throughout, he realized growth came not from skill alone but through reading moments as they unfolded.

Each challenge reshaped his thinking a little more than the last. Because of this, confidence grew not in bursts but quietly, over time. What stood out wasn’t just performance; it was learning how to respond without rushing ahead.

“This season, I learned how to play in pressure situations and how to change my game. You cannot play every match in the same mode. You have to understand the situation and play according to what the team needs. I learned this especially during the playoff matches,” he said.

A young star lit up the tournament, hitting 72 sixes – topping Chris Gayle’s previous best of 59 in one IPL season. That total had stood firm for years before it cracked.
“I always try to back my game. If I feel I can hit a particular ball, I commit fully and play my natural game,” Vaibhav Sooryavanshi said.

One run less of the quickest hundred in IPL records, Sooryavanshi said, staying fit could shape how far he goes. Though close, that single ball made the difference; his body’s condition might decide what comes next.
“I want to play cricket for a long time, so I need to work hard on my fitness and focus on staying injury-free,” he said.

He said the Rajasthan Royals’ team environment made a big difference through that standout season.

“Everyone in the team has been extremely supportive. The senior players and support staff always back me. I learn a lot from them because they have played cricket at the highest level. The environment in the team is excellent,” he added.
